Giudecca

Once well-known for its palazzi with gardens and now for its blossoming artistic community, new and rejuvenated buildings, boatyards and authentic ‘Venetian’ feel, the island of Giudecca (separated from Venice by the mesmerising boat-filled waters of the Giudecca Canal) stretches all the way from Sacca Fisola and the imposing ex-flour mill Molino Stucky in the west (now a Hilton hotel), to the famous five-star Hotel Cipriani and its perfectly manicured gardens at the island’s eastern tip.

A short hop by vaporetto (water bus) to Dorsoduro and St. Mark’s throughout the day and night and boasting a number of well-regarded restaurants of its own including Cip’s Club and Harry’s Dolci with its romantic canopied terrace, Giudecca is also home to Palladio’s beautiful 16th century Il Redentore, the 9th century Church of Sant’ Eufemia and the historic Fortuny factory and showroom.
